On April 24th – 26th, Families Demanding Justice will be hosting the “Re-Build The Movement Against Police Brutality and Against The Grifters” conference in Chicago, IL. We will gather families impacted by police brutality and activists from around the country to discuss the state of our movement. We’ll discuss what will it take to end police brutality in the US and what’s holding it back? We will also be bringing together prominent voices to analyze the twists and turns of the movement, its high points and shortcomings, and to encourage spirited debates among participants.
What will be covered at the conference?
The conference will feature a series of panels and roundtables to dive into the key topics on how we fight to end police brutality. This will the following, click on each heading for more details:

Who are our friends? Who are our enemies? Who are the grifters?

How have efforts at police reform in Chicago actually protected Chicago PD from real accountability?
Abolition, Community Control, or Mass Resistance?
Presentations on the various goals and strategies within the movement and discussing what we should be fighting for and how. We’ll answer whether we should look to Leftist strategies of abolition and community control of police, or should we fight to spread mass resistance like Ferguson in 2014 and Baltimore in 2015.
Pol(ICE): Connecting the struggle against police brutality and ICE terror
A panel of families, lawyers, and people impacted by ICE discussing the impacts of ICE terror across the country, the fight to get justice, the connection between our movements, and how we can join forces against the system.
